Predrag Šantek

After completing elementary and secondary music education in Čakovec and Varaždin, he graduated from the Music Academy in Zagreb in the class of academician Jurica Murai. As a scholarship holder of the Open Society Institute, he also studied under professor Leonid Brumberg in Vienna, actively participating in seminars and working with the famous names of European pianism: Edith Picht-Axenfeld, Rudolf Kehrer, Sulamita Aronovsky, Arbo Valdma, Walter Groppenberger, Naum Starkman and Laszlo Baranyay.

After his first solo recital in Florence, he often performed both at home and abroad, as a soloist, accompanist, as well as a member of or accompanied by chamber ensembles. He had the honor of collaborating with a number of eminent ensembles (Zagreb Soloists, Varaždin Chamber orchestra, Croatian Army Wind Orchestra…) and conductors (Mladen Jagust, Vladimir Kranjcevic, Pavle Despalj, Igor Gjadrov, Mladen Tarbuk, Andjelko Igrec).

Since 1999 he has been enganged in pedagogical work and accompaniment at music schools in Celje, Bjelovar, Murska Sobota, Varaždin and at the Čakovec Department of the Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Zagreb. In addition to being a regular member of numerous juries at both international and national pianist and chamber competitions, he is also a longtime member of the Festival Jury of the Varaždin Baroque Evenings.
